Mary Gruccio

State Senate

Mary Gruccio was elected Freeholder, November, 2011 to fill an unexpired term. Mrs. Gruccio was also elected as a Cumberland County Freeholder in 2001 and in 2004. She was the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Vineland Public School District and is currently the Superintendent for the Vineland Public School District.  Mary had had a personal mantra for her entire professional life, "How will this help our children?"  She taught fourth, fifth and sixth grades at four schools and was principal at three other schools.


Mrs. Gruccio served on the Governor's Committee for Parent Involvement for 5 years, is on the Board of Directors of The United Way and The Dream Foundation.   She is a member of the New Jersey Education Association, Cumberland County Principals and Supervisors Association, Phi Delta Kappa, Professional Education Fraternity, Rowan University, Member of the Hand Foundation Board, and a Board Member for the Boys and Girls Club of Vineland.


Mrs. Gruccio is the Recipient of the American Cancer Society's Award of Courage and Silver Sword Award, the Vineland First Church of the Nazarene Community Service Award, the Vineland Administrators and Supervisors Administrator of the Year Award, and the Cumberland County College Distinguished Alumni Award.  She was inducted into the Hand Foundation Women's Hall of Fame in 2014 and Dr. Mary Gruccio was inducted into the Cumberland County Women's Hall of Fame on April 26, 2017.   On September, 23, 2017, Dr. Mary Gruccio will be recognized for her contributions by the Greater Vineland NAACP.


She graduated with the following degrees:  AS Cumberland County College, BS Monmouth University, M.Ed. William Paterson College, and Ed.D. Nova Southeastern University.

Mary Gruccio has two children: Lauren Marie and William Michael, a Stepdaughter: Stephanie and her husband Fred, and twin granddaughters: Amelia and Madeline.


The GOP, “Grand Old Party,” first took roots in 1854 with a small group of dedicated abolitionists gathered to fight against the expansion of slavery and in hopes of starting a Party dedicated to freedom and equal opportunity.
